Robert Jones

It is our pleasure to introduce one of our members here at Great Fitness: Robert Jones. Rob joined us in December 2014 with the goal, like many others, to lose weight. A sedentary lifestyle had contributed to a weight just shy of 16 stone.

Rob decided to turn to personal training and committed to our Bronze Package. Following a consultation, Rob began a plan comprised of one PT session a week, a personally devised exercise program to focus on in his free time, and nutritional advice. With these lifestyle changes in place, the transformation began. A combination of cardio, resistance training and a balanced diet saw the pounds drop off. Rob’s transformation is not only physical; he has grown in confidence and shows a keen interest in fitness. Now weighing in at 12 and a half stone, Rob is hoping to partake in long distance charity bike rides. This was once a daunting prospect, but with his confidence continuously growing, he is ready to face the challenge and raise money for a charity that is close to his heart.

With no past experience in the gym or any physical activity, Rob has proven that it is possible to change a lifestyle through hard work and dedication. The next stage for Rob is strength and conditioning. He is already showing drastic improvement in the gym, with emphasis on interval training to advance his fitness levels. It has been, and still is, a pleasure to train Rob; his determination to progress is to be commended and he is a true testament to what we strive to achieve for our clients here at Great Fitness.

Adele Nicole

Local 17 year old female shot put and discuss thrower Adele competes for Wales and Great Britain at under 18s level. She currently holds the Welsh and England senior title for shot put. Adele wasn't picked by the Welsh team for the 2014 commonwealth games but is aiming towards Rio 2016. Still very young for her sport, Adele is gaining experience all the time.

Adele uses Great Fitness for her strength and conditioning and makes the full use of the spa for her sports recovery. Adele offers sport massage from Great Escape, this can be booked by calling in to Great Fitness or Great Escape. Adele is a great ambassador for young women for Welshpool, Powys and even further a field. Here at Great Fitness we are very pleased to support Adele on her journey.

Meet The Trainers...


Adrienne has over 25 years experience in personal training while also having GP referral qualifications. Adrienne really is the godmother of fitness. Her unrivaled experience really shines through in her training.

With her rehabilitation background, Adrienne provides the ideal environment for the most inactive of people. Her friendly yet no nonsense approach to training ensures your goals are met.


Chris (husband of Stacey from Great Escape) is the owner of Great Fitness and with more than 10 years experience as a personal trainer and 5 years experience in gym management Chris is overjoyed to finally conquer his life ambition of opening his own facility.

While managing the gym on a day to basis he also offers personal and group training. Chris studied his trade in Cardiff and after working as a personal trainer from the Welsh capital. He decided to move back home to chase his dream of having his own facility.  


Charlie is a fully qualified personal trainer with over 5 years experience.

Charlie joined the GE&F team in 2016 moving from our sister gym The Armoury.

Here at Great Fitness we operate alongside Great Escape where we bring you an environment like no other to train in.

The gym is a private club where members are always made to feel welcome and we aim to help you along with your training. The gym is a limited membership set up to avoid overcrowding. The former cinema screen room now hosts the finest and most update fitness equipment including cybex arc trainers and concept 2 rowing machine.

Here at Great Fitness we also have a spa facility with sauna, steam room and hot tub to relax in after your training. At Great Fitness our aim is to provide you with the correct knowledge for your training to assist you on your way to your fitness goals with the benefit of the spa which allows you to relax and unwind after training and aids your recovery. we have different personal training packages available for one to one training or group training and we also have gym memberships available.

At Great Fitness we've got some of the best gear available to keep you in shape and allow you to maximise your workout potential.

Cardio Equipment


Treadmills are a device for walking or running. The machine provides a moving platform with a wide conveyor belt driven by a electric motor. The belt moves to the rear making the user walk or run at a speed that matches the belt. The speed of running may be controlled and measured by the user. Our treadmills have heart rate monitors and incline programming with the added benefit of custom workouts.  


The Arc Trainer is a stationary, non-impact exercise machine and therefore a great piece of equipment to use for those who suffer from any joint injuries. The movement is similar to a cross trainer. Users can control the resistance and incline. Our arc trainers also have heart rate monitors and custom workouts to follow. 


The X-Bike fits, feels and rides just like a real bicycle. This is made possible by articulating Trixter's patent-pending X-Bike handlebars which move side-to-side against adjustable resistance; fully engaging your upper-body, legs, core abdominal muscles. The movement is totally natural and sport specific.


Recognized by competitive rowers as the standard for indoor training, the Model D delivers an effective cardiovascular workout that will increase your fitness level and tone your physique.

Weight Equipment


The TRX Suspension Trainer is a workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises. You're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise - because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance. 


The Super Gym pulley system provides 5 stations to exercise from. The resistance ranges from 4.5kg to 91kg. The cables that connect the handles to the weight stacks run through adjustable pulleys that can be fixed at any height. This allows a variety of exercises to be performed on the apparatus. There is also three fixed pulleys; lat pull down, low row and high cable. The Super Gym has several variations of handles to suite a wide range of exercises. 


The StairMaster Gravitron 2000 AT upper-body exercise system is a highly
effective tool for developing and strengthening your upper body muscles. It is designed for use by individuals of practically all ages and fitness levels. This exercise system is a machine designed for performing lift-assisted pull-up, chin-up and bar dip exercises. The level of assistance can be altered by the user to increase or decrease the load in which they lift. 


This piece of equipment is designed to assist the spotter of a workout for either chest or shoulder exercises. The station involves a rack and a bench which can be adjusted to either a decline or incline position while also the added benefit of being able to roll the bench forward or backwards. The bench is enclosed by two foot platforms where the spotter can stand over the lifter to spot from.  


The squat rack can be used for other exercises not just squats. The large strong frame ensure the safety of users while lifting to a challenging workload. The squat rack suites both Olympic bars and normal barbells. 


Our dumbbell range is from 2.5kg right up to 50kg. 


The T-Row is a pivoting device which is fixed to the floor. You slide a Olympic bar into position to perform a exercise. The exercise possibilities are endless. The T-Row incorporates core and stability work while carrying out any exercise.
